DescriptionJem and the Holograms was part of my after-school television. It ran from 1985 to 1988 which seem a bit later for me because I remember the show well but would have thought I was on the tail end of my after school cartoons by then. Perhaps it was the first season or two I saw. Regardless, this is pure nostalgia for me. Quirky television that could have only have been from that era. It was a joint production between Hasboro who was marketing the toys, Marvel comics who made comics and Sunbow who specialized in making animation to support marketing campaigns and were the animators for GI Joe and the Transformers(Toei studios in Japan did the actual animating). Here is about as great an image of Jem as you will find and features the key master backgrounds (the original painted backgrounds of this scene - one of a kind). In this scene Jem is singing their newest hit, "I Believe in Happy Endings". "Tell me I'm crazy, maybe, I know. But I believe in happy endings." Not THAT kind of happy ending...get your mind out of the gutter...this was the mid 80's man and Crockett and Tubbs were in their prime on Miami Vice. Relive the moment now with your own happy ending HERE!. The cel is at about the 1:17 mark if you care. Social/Sharing |

This is great! I am not ashamed to say that I watched and enjoyed that cartoon as a young boy! Great image!

Who am I to question what Jem meant by singing about happy endings? The song must have built up tension and pressure for a grand release.

Jem and the Holograms was part of your after-school television as a 15 to 18 year old? I thought you were a trouble making bad ass at that age?!? Good thing you discovered your love for Nightwing right after this....

Awesome! We kiddos of the '80s have all these cartoons and images burned into our brains! Congrats on both adds from the show!
