DescriptionI'm always glad to add another piece from my old boss's (Denis Kitchen) collection. This piece is a wonderful ad page by the great Howard Cruse. I used to love reading Cruse's Barefootz in my younger days, so am happy to add a nice representative page of his work. This was used as a house ad for "Barefootz: The Comix Book Stories", published by the Renegade Press in 1986. There is a mix of stats and original artwork on the page. The lower corner is a stat of the book cover (see additional images), as is the Barefootz strip at the upper part of the page. But the wonderful self-portrait, the large full-figure shot of Barefootz, and all those great cockroaches, are all original artwork. I love Howard's use of texture and pattern, combined with that think contour line on Barefootz. Simply beautiful work, and HUGE!Social/Sharing |

Very high quality line while mixing the indie look with modern graphic effects and cartooning. I think this ad would sell the comic better than the cover of the comic by how it's written.
