DescriptionA friend of mine got a commission by Dennis a year or so ago, and ever since, this indie rising star has been on my radar. His career kicked off with "Etheres" in 2023 and he has been doing covers here and there, like for Kaya at Image Comics. More recently, he has been nominated for a 'Ringo Award. It's clear that he's going places.Back in April 2024; we started talking about a bigger commission piece, featuring Spidey & MJ. As a big Spidey fan himself, he loved the idea and went to work a couple of weeks later. Dennis used a whole toolkit on this A3 (Europe's 11x17), with pencils and gouache watercolor paint as the main materials. I adore the result with Spidey carelessly swinging - look at those subtly painted webs! Him holding MJ close, whose flowing red hair lights up the entire painting. The complimentary street-style coloring and the city scape's guiding lines accentuate that central red-ish tone incredibly well. One downside of watercolor is that my scanner just couldn't get all the nuances. In real life, it pops and blends even more. I'd definitely keep my eye out for his work in the coming months and years! Social/Sharing |

MJ's red hair is burning like a torch being whisked around the city's skyline against the muted green hues!

Super fun piece and I love the use of color to help provide the motion and energy. Great pick up!

Absolutely love the background and how it makes the characters pop! MJ's expression is also just perfect.

Thanks, Casey! Hope you're doing well. It's a beauty, for sure. Dennis has been doing some stuff for Image now, if you'd want to check that out.
