Description

As you can see, Joe Doolin's original prelim was falling apart - it was on vellum with numerous rips and tears throughout plus it was darkening due to being in the sun. We took some great pictures of the original and then set up to try to lighten the piece and seal the tears. The tears all sealed wonderfully but the lightening caused the pencil graphite to wash out as well. A real lesson for those who try to restore art BUT I had Bob Almond blue-line ink the piece on separate board to try to preserve what Joe Doolin was trying to do.

The image on the left is the original image PRIOR to restoration; the image on the right is the Bob Almond inks.

Per Shaun Clancy, this appears to be a prelim for Rangers #30 (1946).

Wow!  Must have been framed to have the sun shadow.  Very rarely seen vintage work and Almond inks the copy with lustre to bring about the long standing feelings of the war.

Very nice! Probably a pulp cover that was changed slightly for the cover of Rangers #30.
