DescriptionHere we go again, Jim.I know you are as tired of this as me. There are very few things I dislike more than posting about beautiful art that has been done in by the sun, especially George Wilsons. They fade so badly. This is no exception. Left in the sun and there is complete sunstrike/fade/sunburn in this piece. Don't take my word for it; look at the fish. Blue fish is now almost white; Orange fish is badly faded(Yes, I sound like Dr. Seuss, haha). Blues on floor are gone. Metal color is different shade. It's just all washed out. So so sad. We will never get to see what was once a magnificent piece of art. Awful how much better the comic cover looks than the original art. There is almost nothing more beautiful than a wonderfully maintained Wilson from 60 years ago, to show off his use of colors. Now we just have a bunch of brown. I have included a copy of the comic for comparison. But have no fear. It will still sell for many thousands of dollars. Seek out a pristine Wilson, with work that is undoubtedly his, and not some Heritage wannabe Wilson, and get it while you can. If I don't try to get it first. Haha. If the owner wants me to take this down I will. I just cannot emphasize how important it is to look at your art on the wall, compare it to a picture of how it looked when you bought it, and for the love of God, take it down if it is fading. If it is a Wilson, just take it down, or at least get a picture of it, as it continues to fade, so we can one day see what it used to look like. The other option is to take a very nice picture of it, have it made to a similar size as the original and put it up on the wall, and put the original art away for safe keeping. Please.
