Description

Beautiful original artwork piece for the card series by Fleer as part of the Batman Forever movie release. Batman and Robin are seen planning in the Batcave with the Batmobile in the background. Barreto rendered the illustration in graphite on DC Trading Card Bristol board with an image area of 7" x 9". Signed by Barreto below image area. Basic handling wear but in overall very good condition.
Illustrated by Eduardo Barreto, known well for his work, in particular with DC and lovingly was known as the “Uruguayan Batman artist” by his adoring and proud fans in Uruguay. Unfortunately, Barreto passed away in 2011 and at the time was given this tribute by famed artist, Jim Lee:

“With his impeccable draftsmanship and attention to nuance and detail, Eduardo Barreto was a true artist's artist. A mainstay of DC Comics, he was one of the key artists during the 1980s who not only helped define the look and feel of the DC Universe but got me hooked on the Teen Titans. His incredible work and vision will be missed.”

These cards were very cool and were a lot more true to the comics than the movies that they sought to capitalize upon! Little of the card art gets posted and the metal foils were just the premium fans loved in the 90's in their comics and cards.
