DescriptionMy first pages from Mike Vosburg. I bought this lot specifically for the page featured here as the main image. "I'll teach this apple tree to mess with me." *hurls convenient bundle of dynamite as if it were a grenade*... It's hilarious. Happy to own this very early example of Mike's work.If anyone ever runs across the other two pages, please let me know! I'd love to complete the story. According to Mike: "This is one of the very first jobs I had in comics. When I started working in comics, you know, you'd take your work around to Marvel and DC, and they're looking at them and go: 'Well okay, okay.' So [...] somebody gave me a name at Gold Key. I went to Gold Key and I met the editor who was a man named Paul Kuhn. He didn't know very much about comics because he looked at my work and said 'Hm, well, I don't know very much about comics but you seem like a nice young man, so I'm going to give you a couple of stories to do.' I think we got a whopping $20 per page for pencilling them in those days. But for me, I was ecstatic because, you know, I've got actual work." Great set of vintage pages! Over 50 years old! It is fantastically cheesy and the kind of comics parents would be leery of. They kind of need to be embraced as a part of what made the 70's so wild beyond just the big two.
