Description

Closing out my Class of 2025 X-Men Cover Recreations is Uncanny X-Men #225, rendered by Robert Gill, a current Marvel artist and the second artist on the Krakoan Era's volume of X-Force, where he did a great job following Josh Cassara. Great enough that I've got a fun 3-page sequence by Robert I've yet to post to CAF.

In the early part of this year, Robert's commission list opened while he was repped by Cadence, so I jumped on it. Then what happened happened.

Fortunately, with help from Andrew Christman, now at Kinetic, Robert & I were put in direct contact and we moved forward. Also, fortunate, given the situation, I ended up being able to pay Robert directly.

After providing a few choices, he was excited to put his spin on the UXM 225 cover and he did an amazing job, staying true to the original, while breathing new life into it with a modern dynamism through noticeable touches, like character movement & repositioning, detailed smoke & shrapnel, nuanced changes in facial expression.

To say the least, I was thrilled with the result when it arrived and, last to arrive this year, capped off the Class of 2025 with a bang!

Robert's now repped by Geoff M Art Sales, working digital pencils/traditional inks, has an array of great pages at a good value available. Just a tip for all of us X-Men art collectors who think you can't find such a thing anymore.

With that, I wish you all a Happy New Year, as I begin plotting how I'll approach the Class of 2026! Ideas are already churning.

Great all battle cover! Fall of the Mutants starts here! Gill's changes has more action flow with each team moving in unison and accounting for this to be presented in b&w.
