Well, there I was, wondering which other character I wanted to add to my collection from the fifty-odd Kolins Legion commissions that had just been posted to eBay, when I scrolled down a little past the listing for Brainiac 5 and found this one featuring his girlfriend, Andromeda! And, as it happened, my boyfriend was looking for a piece of art to get me as a gift for our anniversary, and we agreed that this one was a perfect (and adorably appropriate) fit! Now Brainy and Laurel sit on opposite pages of my portfolio and glare up at me together when I open it, and I couldn't be happier.

I just absolutely love the composition of this piece, first and foremost. I think it's one of the best Andromeda pieces I've ever seen, and it was an absolutely inspired idea to have her floating in the wreckage of a spaceship she's just finished smashing up. You could even see it as her having just torn a hole in the hull of a ship, staring down whoever's inside. Andy's always at her best when the artist remembers to make her look positively mighty, which I think Kolins accomplished here to great effect. It's also worth noting that every single star (in the background and on Andy's costume) was made with a white paint marker and what must have been a good amount of patience. I also love the detail put into the wrecked spaceship and all its debris floating around.

I'm also proud to announce that this is the one-hundredth piece of art I've uploaded to CAF in 2024! This might be the only year I'm ever able to post so much art, since I was playing catch-up from all four of the years I've been collecting, so I'm pretty pleased that I pulled it off and reached such a milestone. A very happy New Year to everyone!

I am attracted to Legion people
I pick 'em up and now collectors are seeing
