Description

So picked this up on HA last year. This is one of those instances where an image just grabs you. It is by pulp artist Edd Cartier (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edd_Cartier) and done for an illustrated story. This was the sixth illustration for the adaptation of Frank Gruber's story, and it was published on Page 52. Created in ink and Conte crayon on illustration board with an image area of 7" x 6.75". 1949.

Cartier has a very interesting background, so I encourage you to take a look at the Wikipedia link.

I could go on about the lines and inking etc, but something about this just screams "of the time." If I were to image what a crime drama image would look like, this is it.
