DescriptionFrom the Back In Black storyline (#539-543), my favorite Spidey arc ever, by JMS, Garney & Reinhold. In the short time I've been collecting I've never actually seen one of these pages available, so when it popped up at auction I fired off a low ball bid, just in case. In this scene Mr. Fisk is bribing a guard (go figure!). He wants out of his prison jumper and back into his fancy clothes, plus he is setting the stage for a big showdown with Spidey in the next issue. After making all his moves we get a shot of Kingpin in shadow behind bars, followed by a nice close up of that Cheshire Cat grin of his. It's not the Garney page I always wanted or anything like that but it definitely got my "nostalgia-sense" tingling and I was more than happy to nab it. Thanks for taking a look. Social/Sharing |

That's hilarious! Everyone always types "lol" but if I were drinking something when I read that, it'd have come out my nose.

The Kingpin wants what the Kingpin wants. Gorgeous page from Amazing Spider-Man #541 by Ron Garney and Bill Reinhold. I love the composition of this page, with each panel showing us only a little of the scene, but enough to communicate what's going on. The opening panels with the exchange of cash between Kingpin and the guard are minimal in detail but tell us all we need to know. Love the contrast in inking between the lightness of the top three panels and the darkness of the bottom two. The look on Kingpin's face in the last panel is killer! Great pick-up, congrats!

Wilson Fisk showing once again why his reputation for generosity is known far and wide. Spidey and Daredevil need to get off his back and finally admit that they're jealous of all of the good that Mr. Fisk does for everyday people like this prison guard!
