Colossus, unaware of Cyclops's intentions, attempts to intervene, but Phoenix—having read Scott’s mind—stops him. Cyclops’s calculated taunts escalate the tension, drawing responses not only from Wolverine but also from Nightcrawler and Storm. As the conflict peaks, Cyclops calls for peace and reveals his purpose: to test their psychological resilience and ensure no hidden damage lingered beneath the surface. Hmmmm.... people seem to really like these Byrne/Austin X-Men pages. Maybe I'll grab one of these over the weekend and see what the big deal is.

Goddess pose by Storm! Memorable image by Byrne/Austin. Cyclops' plans are often ill advised and one could see that it's leading the team to disaster within a year of this.

This is fabulous. It hits the top of the scale on both comic history and artistic talent. The type of piece which is a standout in any collection. Byrne/Austin/Claremont are special to so many of us here. I saw this and went straight back to when I read this book in 1979.
A priviledge to have this gem available for us to enjoy here on CAF!

You got a great one! Love this Byrne/Austin page from X-Men #127. Bryne and Austin packed a ton of action into this one page as Cyclops tangles with Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Storm! Every panel is filled with surprising battle tactics as Cyc tests the others to see if they've suffered any pyschological damage from their earlier battle with Proteus. It's fun for us readers to see all this team rough-housing, but the best panel on the page is the third panel, where Storm, evoking her full power, holds up one arm and says, "ENOUGH!" Storm's fierce pose in this scene is totally killer! Great pick-up, congrats!
