I once got to the end of the 1942 NES game and it traumatized me to never play it again. It was literally too much for the NES to handle too as the game frame rate slowed down with the barrage of fighters on the screen.

Interesting! The player pilots a P-38 Lightning! The guys on Midway Island weren't so lucky. Three quarters of the base's fighters were obsolete Brewster F2A Buffalos. The Japanese shot down 13 of 20 of these fighters during their raid. A survivor said "My plane was badly shot up... In my opinion, the Zero fighter has been far underestimated. I think it is probably one of the finest fighters in the present war. As for the F2A-3, (or Brewster trainer), it should be in Miami as a training plane, rather than used as a first-line fighter."
