Description"Guadalcanal" by Paul S. Newman. April-June 1964.A relief force finds the beach strewn with Marines killed in the ambush. Short on supplies, the Marines scavenge to strengthen their defenses. ("What are we -- Marines or garbage collectors?") Fighters and bombers land on Henderson Field, boosting morale. Note: Sam often uses a single top tier and a single bottom tier panel to introduce and close a page. If I recall correctly, Howard Chaykin likes this approach to storytelling in comics.
