Descriptionfrom the 4 part Black Widow solo story, originally scheduled for Marvel Premiere but finally printed in Marvel Fanfare. Generally, I was not a big fan of Jack Abel's inks on George but in this instance, he did a great job.......... Here, the web tightens on Natasha as an international team of assassins has been sent to take her out.Social/Sharing |

You can definitely tell that Jack Abel spent a little extra time on this page. Congrats on another awesome Marvel Fanfare Widow piece Rob!

Gorgeous page from this fantastic BW story. Just look at all that classic Perez detail. And yes, I think Abel outdid himself here.

It's nice to see that even this late in our collecting game, we can still reel in a grail.

I've never seen this story, but I now know that I'm missing out on something well-done. What a great-looking page. I always think of Abel as the guy who inked Trimpe slightly less well than Stanton (heh) but here he's really doing well - not just getting every line but weighting them all properly. It could have looked really busy but it's just terrific stuff. Nice pick up.

Peak Perez, this page is simply gorgeous. I agree 100% on your comment on Abel. Here his inks are just perfect. Must be amazing in person. Huge congrats!

Great page! Clearly George spent tons of time on the details, making it easy for any inker to just fill in the blacks.
That third panel is an example of George's great storytelling abilities - everything in the panel draws the eye away from the threat lurking in the doorway so the spear in panel 5 seems to come from nowhere.

A classic that they held back a few years from Marvel Premiere? It would have rocked in that title to see this story, but with the higher production value and paper of Marvel Fanfare, we got to see the full potential to capture the details of George Perez artwork. It left a big impression on a lot of Marvel fans as NTT was already underway.

Wow man, absolutely astonishing page! I think I like it even better than your other pages from this story! But you know what I like best about the page? The drybrushed hair in the 4th panel! This is the first and only time I've ever seen anyone use drybrush technique over Pérez pencils. What stunning images!

I never seen the Black Widow better drawn than in these mini series. This page is the perfect example of it. That last panel is extremly beautiful and well drawn. Pure beauty!

Black Widow in her hubba, hubba costume. What more could you want? It's really well drawn too.

Wow! Every panel's a winner! Classic goodness from Perez. Then get all 5 together to give us that storytelling...the whole is greater than the sum of its parts :) Congrats!

Didn't realize this was Abel inks--I agree, this is some of the best work I've seen from him! Maybe because Perez put it all on the page for him to follow. The end result is gorgeous--and so densely packed, I love that there's so much to look at on the page.
