DescriptionA couple weeks ago I received an email out of the blue from Rod Luff with the heading “Just Bought A House!”. When I opened the email I wasn’t sure what to expect but it turned out that he had purchased a house for his family in South Carolina and they were in the process of moving. They were moving to a smaller place without a lot of extra storage for paintings so he was wondering if I would be interested in purchasing a few. He had 3 large pieces. This piece “Underglow III” that was 24” x 36”. “Dawn” that was 24” x30” and a third that I passed on since it was very similar to my “Arboreal Dreams” painting. I told him I would be happy to take a couple off his hands especially when I saw how much he was offering them to me for. I’ve been supporting Rod’s art since I first commissioned him way back in 2012. Hard to believe it has been that long but I’m glad I connected with him like that. Always love the art he creates and even happier when I get the chance to add one of his pieces to my collection.I don’t usually purchase pieces as big as this since they are usually pretty tough on the budget and take up a lot of space to display but I would have been stupid to pass up on the deal he was offering. I came up with the perfect place to hang them both even before the deal was completed and let’s just say I’m thrilled to have given them a good home. So much better than the alternative of sticking them in storage at the in-laws where they wouldn’t be enjoyed on a daily basis. There’s always something so magical about the beautiful owl pieces Rod paints so of course I loved this piece as soon as I saw it. The scene is just so sublime with the wonderfully lush forest with its beautiful ferns and vines. Such wonderful details throughout. The owls are such a hoot. Always so much character and expression in them. Of course she is gorgeous and contrasts beautifully against that fantastic forest of green. I really love her pose as she holds onto the vines as the owls surround her. Another phenomenal painting by this amazing artist and one I’m ecstatic to have in my collection. In my opinion it doesn’t get much better than this when it comes to a Rod Luff painting. Size 24x36” on Cradled Wood Panel Social/Sharing |

Magical glow to the faces and very smooth tones in contrast to the forrest environment.
