Greg and Fake's Santos Sisters series has been described as "Love and Rockets meets Archie Comics" so it felt appropriate to post this charming commission to recognize that connection and to mark this week's release of the first Santos Sisters collection from Fantagraphics books.

From the publisher synopsis for Santos Sisters Volume One:

A Technicolor tapestry of irreverent comic book fun for adults young and old!

One day while combing the beach in their hometown of Las Brisas, the Santos Sisters discover a pair of beautiful medallions. What happens next changes their lives, forever. The medallions are imbued with the powers of a goddess, "Madame Sosostris," and can transform them at will into flying, gun-wielding, mask-wearing murder-heroes with hearts of, if not gold, then at least candy.

Follow Ambar and Alana, the Santos Sisters, as they balance spicy superheroics with the drama of their everyday lives in a playful mix of Archie Comics and Love and Rockets. The Santos Sisters fight crime, date guys, and try to just deal with day-to-day life as young women in a world of deadly assassins, roided-up footballers, zombie attacks, organized crime, and more � while their creators, Greg & Fake, help restore the concept of unabashed fun in comic books with a healthy infusion of nostalgia and laughs.

as soon as I saw the piece it sort of reminded me of Archie but then I read the Love & Rockers meets Archie call out in the description and that makes complete sense based on the art/design of these characters. pretty cool and sounds like something I might enjoy reading actually. nice one Mark

What a perfect way to celebrate the release of the first Santos Sisters collection! As you've mentioned in the descriptions of the Santos Sisters originals you've previously posted, Greg and Fake’s series really seems to have that Love and Rockets meets Archie vibe, so seeing Maggie and Hopey alongside the Santos Sisters feels like a natural and delightful crossover. This is a charming commission, capturing the spirit of both worlds beautifully. So fun!
