DescriptionThis original 8" x 10" pencil on paper EverQuest drawing by fantasy illustrator Keith Parkinson was used as a preliminary character sketch during the creation of the 1999 massively multiplayer online role-playing game's box cover. The image shows dark elf wizard Vahlai Ka'Izal conjuring up some of her evil magic.As part of the computer title's Second Anniversary Celebration in 2001, the illustration saw publication on the official EverQuest website's "Concept Art" page, where it appeared on a couple of rough layout drafts. The Teir`Dal are a feared and powerful race distinguishable by their blue skin, white hair, and black hearts. Their subterranean home of Neriak lies underneath the Nektulos Forest. Like other dark elves, Vahlai hates all races of Norrath, including her own, and aims to obliterate Firiona Vie and the rest of her companions, particularly the barbarian Dagda Icefury. Through a dark ritual, she took a piece of her brain and gave it to the troll shadowknight Rogkasth Vr`l to serve her in spreading the hatred of Innoruuk across the lands. She later helped with the kidnapping of Firiona and the corruption of Tunare's Lifeguide staff. Social/Sharing |

Looks far better than the game graphics capability back then. This early piece takes the RPG look of decades past and refines it to a level that is still impressive today!
