DescriptionSpidey and Rek-Rap are currently trapped in a sort of Limbo Land, after being eaten and swallowed by the demon monster Re-Po.In the real world, Re-Po (in his human form) advances upon a bound and gagged Randy Robertson brandishing a switch blade. Oh no! Can Spidey and Rek-Rap escape 'the belly of the beast' in time to save Randy?? Social/Sharing |

Re-Po is really scary because he never changes his facial expression. It's just a meek looking guy masking his true form, which is more evil than he looks.

I could save a few bucks by cancelling my Marvel subscription and just read Amazing Spider-Man here.

You know, I've already mentioned how much I hate Re-Po. But how could anyone NOT? Look at that image of him in the second to last panel. He's got that exact type of face you just want to punch out!

Yeah he has that creepy expressionless face you just wanna deck. Even though this page has no Spidey or Rek-Rap, it's still one of my favorite pages from the whole three-issue story. It has such a noir look to it, with all the inky blacks and close-ups of Randy's bound wrists and mouth. It's a great sequence that leads to that last panel where all you see of Re-Po is the switch blade and his shadow on the wall ... The suspense is palpable! (I'm also psyched that I finally got to use the word 'palpable' in a comment).

Oh yes, it definitely has a Film Noir vibe to it. It is, artistically speaking, a very strong page.

You don't need the color or the word balloons to feel all the tension and terror on this page. In fact, it actually works better for me as a silent b&w page. Powerful stuff.
