Description"My name is Greg and I'm a collector." Now, the idea of collectors anonymous is absurd, as we'd just use it as a way to get more stuff....but I really didn't need this. And of course we never need it. I spent twice what I should have last year (and twice what I've ever spent -- until the last couple of years I often spent less than $1000 a year on art) so I shouldn't have bought this....but, I had the money for the moment and I do like early Buckler before he aped Kirby. I really like the kind of open layout he used in the less mainstream stuff. It's reminiscent of Steranko.I had a few Buckler pages before (Jungle Action #6, Robin and Dracula Lives) but that was 35-45 years ago when they cost $6-$13 (and this page has $15 written on the back so that was it's original price) and J.A. pages are insanely high now as are Avengers and FF (and Deathlok pages just don't show up). And, man, was Marcos a great inker. This also may be the only page I own with zip-a-tone right now and I love that stuff. It's page 9 of the magazine but page 4 of the Morbius story. Now, I don't know why there are gaps in the zip as in print there aren't but even then the zip could have been cut better -- to go to border of panel 4 instead of leaving a gap. These often had problems in the magazine material in this regard (especially when they had the extra color -- it would often be out of register). Social/Sharing |

The different shades of screen tone aging and staining underneath gives off the great effects of depth that is even cooler than the b&w magazine showed. Morbius is given a gothic romance feel with the moon and the crooked tree wrapping around the couple. You only get to see Morbius' face once to keep it from being too distracting.
