Description

Dated in 1982.

Conan faces the monstrous "Brown Man of the River" on this horrifying cover that we believe is both penciled and inked by Buscema. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Slight toning, stat logo and header paste-ups, with tape in the top right. A stripped-in original art correction for Conan's head is held by tape on the back (see additional images), there are staple and pinholes in the top margin, significant whiteout use, with light staining, smudging, and handling wear.
Signed by Editor-In-Chief Jim Shooter in the bottom margin.

Yikes this is nice, and fun too! John Buscema is best when he inked himself! He was such a great artist!

Pure Buscema in the early 80's is cool! Pure adventure strip illustration style of Hyborian fantasy. The colorist must have not got to read the title when he colored the monster green.

Ironically the colorist was color blind.

The Conan outfit, has a bit of Prince Valiant/Hal Foster feel to it. Beautiful piece!
