DescriptionA nice introspective page featuring my boy, Rodimus Prime.Usually the mandate of the original UK stories were to tell tales that took place in between the pages of the ongoing US Marvel Comic. What's interesting about these tales is that they all took place post-Transformers The Movie. The 3 issue Marvel Adaptation and the film take place in the year 2005. This comic is set in the year 2007. In one respect, these particular stories had great leeway in that no US comic was covering the events of the Transformers post-Movie in the year 2007. However, reconciling that the US Comic would ever even get to the point where Transformers The Movie could happen in that continuity is a whole other can of worms. Future Transformers gimmicks and toys (like Targetmasters) created some glaring time travel plot holes. If all the new fangled lines like Headmasters and Targetmasters took place in present day (late 1980s), why would time traveling characters from the future not recognize the gimmick? Since it was part of 'ancient history'? The real-world answer is that they weren't invented yet, but there were always occasional bits of lip service in the US comics to at least try to reconcile the US and UK storylines, even if they weren't truly written to line up properly together. The future in the UK Comics was a lot more bleak than the 3rd Season of the television program. Rodimus is preparing to walk the war trenches on Cybertron and the Civil War continues between Autobots and Decepticons on Cybertron. Whereas the 3rd Season of the tv show, which was also set post-TFTM, the Decepticons were driven off Cybertron and retreated to a burned out husk of a planet called Chaar. The Autobots under Rodimus Prime finally controlled the entire planet Cyberton. But in the UK version, the war is at a stalemate and will continue indefinitely. Outside of the UK Marvel Comics, there's not too many examples of Rodimus Prime to be found in the US Marvel Comics, so I'm happy to have this one. Social/Sharing |

It's actually a great view of Cybertron's surface and you also the lament of Rodimus Prime that he can't win the war. If Donaldus Prime was in charge, the war would end in one day.

Fantastic page from Transformers UK! I haven't seen too many of these posted. I personally didn't get into Transformers until the recent DWJ version, so it's interesting to me to see pages from some of the earlier comics. I love the way Dan Reed portrays Cybertron, the home world of the Transformers. He created some really cool-looking high-tech buildings. Interesting too, to hear the lament of Rodimus Prime about the fuitility of the seemingly endless war with the Decepticons. Reed does a nice job of conveying the emotions of the Transformer despite him being a robot. Just a superb page, great pick-=up!
