DescriptionX-Men #107 was the first comic I ever bought for myself and although I wasn't fully sure what was happening, I became an instant Dave Cockrum fan and especially loved the Starjammers and Imperial Guard.I was fortunate to be able to buy the first Starjammers splash from that issue in 2002 and a few years later I was also able to pickup the first appearance page of Corsair and Ch'od from X-Men #104 (page 31). This amazing Corsair character design drawing was on the back. I'm pretty sure this was drawn first as the costume was changed slightly prior to publication -- most noticeably the loss of the cape. The tape is a result of one of the panels on the front being cut and moved slightly. It looks like Dave made a Xerox before that happened and I've included a scan of the untouched drawing. (Sorry -- I don't recall where this scan came from -- Dave often had copies of art at conventions and this was probably a copy from a convention appearance.) This is technically unpublished, although it was included in IDW's Dave Cockrum's X-Men Artist's Edition book in 2020. Social/Sharing |

These back of the page drawings are always such a great bonus! That sad thing is that they always make me wish they could be separated from the published page!

Little sceen easter eggs like this tell us so much about where the character's concept started! It's got the space pirate look a little ahead of the time of Star Wars.

Nice!
Do you have in a "Floatin frame" so both sides can be viewed?
Thanks for posting it after all these years. Glad to see I'm not only one who first now posts acquisitions from 15-24 years back :)

For now this is unframed and just in a mylar. I don't have that much wall space and I do like to look at the art up close. I have held off on posting some of my higher end older art, but starting to do that now, particularly since I can't afford such great stuff these days :)
