DescriptionI met Jeremy Wilson at OAX 2025 and saw, among several great pieces he had on display, an amazing Dr. Fate he had painted on a copper plate. We chatted for quite a while and ended up talking about Rom - Jeremy mentioned he'd thought about painting on different metals and that Rom would be a natural for a metal like aluminum. We went back and forth after OAX - Jeremy experimented with aluminum to ensure it would work, determining what sort of shading would provide more detail to the metal. I provided some reference material, thinking a "space" background would complement the metallic appearance of his armor and one of the iconic scenes revisited throughout the series was Rom's triumph over the Deathwing (the event that earned him the title "Greatest of the Spaceknights"). It's difficult to capture the luster of Rom's armor in a photo - it is striking in person: Here’s a video clip: Shiny metal armor! 16x20. Social/Sharing |

Thats incredibly unique and a perfect fit. WIll it hold up over time as bonded to the metal? Heres to hoping!

Cool medium to make a metal painting! I wonder if Wilson had to prep the surface with grinding or acid to make sure the paints would adhere.

He did some testing for a few weeks on the aluminum, so here's hoping. :)
