DescriptionReally sad to hear of the untimely passing of Jackson "Butch" Guice. I always really enjoyed his art -- from his early Micronauts days up to recent comics and commissions. I don't think he really got the praise and attention he deserved, but he kept producing quality work decade after decade.Guice had a short but memorable run on Nick Fury in 1991, starting with issue #20. This great pinup features Nick, Valentina and some of the other S.H.I.E.L.D. characters from that storyline. I was told that this was originally intended for the cover to #20, but used as a pinup here instead (possibly because they didn't want to have Nazi flags on a Marvel cover). Per the GCD, this was reprinted more recently in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Classic #2 in 2015. What's funny is that I bought this sight-unseen from Spencer Beck in 2016 without even knowing what the image looked like. I figured a Guice S.H.I.E.L.D. pinup couldn't be bad and boy was I happy when this arrived. Just a really eye-popping design! Sorry the image quality isn't the best. The art is oversized, so I took a photo instead of scanning. Social/Sharing |

Great cover design. Love the layout of all the characters. The Fury and Kate Pierce drawings are probably my favorite. But the entire illustration is executed beautifully.

I know this is early 90s, but screams 80s action flick!

This era of Guice art is top notch as he was still cartoony, but was evolving with more sophistication for the new decade and where the styles were moving towards.

That's a fantastic pinup, even better than his actual Shield stint.

An incredibly piece from right around the time he was peaking with his more traditional comic book style, just before he began evolving his style into a more illustrative one. Congrats, Ted!

A strong, off-centre composition with a film poster feel. Gone is the 1960s James Bond aesthetic, replaced by a more 1980s tough PI TV show feel, with kick-boxing and helicopters. Nice job.
