DescriptionThe Texas Mafia! The Four Color Comic Book History of Comics is a GN that was put out in 2017 by IDW and recounts the somewhat crazy story of comics and graphic novels. Highly recommend, fun read. Living in Austin and being a fan of underground comics (especially Gilbert Shelton's Freak Brothers), I took the opportunity to grab the two pages that told the story about how the underground comic movement was born in Austin. On another personal note, my Dad bought this book for me for my birthday ... along with a TPB of Classic Illustrated. My Dad was probably 89 at the time, but he still knew how to use a computer and order from Amazon. He didn't quite understand his 50 something's son's obsession with the pages he bought for way to much money, nor did he know anything about comics or comic art. However, he wanted to get me something that related to my hobby, I would enjoy, and that would make me happy. Thanks Dad. Miss you. Social/Sharing |

There's a version of Bill Cox on every panel of the additional images page. I just bought a page during Comic Art Live from a comic my dad bought for me back when I was a kid. I don't think anyone else would care about it, and sure enough it was there at the end of Sunday ready for a discount.

The story behind the art is what it's all about. Props to your dad!
