DescriptionThe Star Wars expanded universe was on fire in the early 90s, and these Dark Empire comics are among the standouts. Pretty much every painted page by Cam Kennedy is a masterpiece, and I’m happy to finally add one to my collection. Luke, Lando and the (now ultra-important) Mon Mothma are featured here, along with that ridiculously cool war machine.Hey Disney — if you had simply adapted (and updated) material from the Thrawn Trilogy (“Heir to The Empire.”) by Timothy Zahn, and the Dark Empire Trilogy (Tom Vetch) you would have had a sequel film series that people would still be talking about — favorably. Lovely page. Remember being a fan of the shiny paper this comic was printed on. Really suites the artwork. Congrats!

It was quite a launch by Dark Horse. They put high class artists on the job knowing how important the Star War license was to their success. With stuff like Barb Wire, the Mask, Alien vs Predator, they were bringing a 90's cinemtic experience to the audience. Kennedy's art had the sophistication to handle this sequel series meant for those who had grown up since ROTJ and provided a spark to get them back into the fandom.

I really love the watercolors. Coming from someone who generally dislikes colored line art, that's saying a lot!
