Descriptioni first met George in 2001. He was as awesome as you can imagine. i've posted that sketchbook sketch in my CAF before so i won't repeat myself.i got the bug though. i wanted more George Perez. i signed up for his commission waitlist. and waited. and waited. when the email came that my turn was up (years later) i asked for nightwing. he asked if i wanted modern or classic. i decided modern was the way to go. not too much later i got this in the mail. you can't see it well on this scan but there's a lot of blue line erases. its almost like getting two sketches in one. i like seeing how he changed his mind. on the other hand he changed it so much that i'm wondering why he didn't just grab a fresh page. i like it though. another thing i remembered about this is when i got the email that i was next in line i remember asking if i could get two. a friend of mine wanted in. they said yes. he got a deathstroke that was even better than my nightwing. however, some kids were in the house and he had it somewhere they could reach and they decided to color in some of it with a ballpoint pen. he ended up selling it for what he paid. i'll see if i can track down the buyer since i know him to see if he'd be willing to let me post it. It was worth the wait because Perez did a full design like a cover. Nightwing's pose and angle sticking out against the geometric background is very pleasing.

i just updated the image. still not the best but i wanted to get something better than what i had.
yeah, the wait seemed like forever but since all you had to do was put your name and no deposit it certainly wasn't a bad deal. what gets me is the price. i think this may have been $300. maybe. at most. b/c i was broke back then. not sure what inflation today would make that but no matter what still a bargain.
