Description

'Amy' original ink sketch drawing by Jack Tippit (3x5) circa 1966. Amy is on an index card that was mailed back to a gentleman named Paul Goldberg, of Philadelphia, on April 28, 1966. Harry Mace created 'Amy', a gag-a-day comic in 1961 but died in December of 1963. Jack was an assistant on the comic early on. Jack Tippit was a US cartoonist artist who took over 'Amy' from late 1963 until 1991. The 'Amy' series was occasionally ran under the title 'Our Girl Amy. Tippit won the National Cartoonists Socety Gag Cartoons Award in 1963 and 1966. Tippit also created the daily 'Doctor Bill' strip in the 1960s and also worked with Frank Johnson on 'Sergeant Pepper'. From 1979 thru 1983, Tippit took over 'Hnery' strip from John Liney. Tippit died in October 1994.
