Description

A Comic Art Mystery Sketch.
My wife is huge fan of the Tim Burton Batman. Specifically, I asked for the 'Batwing flying in from tof the moon as from the 1989 Batman movie'. I had no idea who would receive the request, so I tried to be as generally specific (is that an oxymoron?) as possible.
We happened to see the piece pop up on the Comic Art Live broadcast the day after it aired live. My wife was very chuffed at the piece. She is a big fan of Mannix and his style.

Brilliant execution of the subject, perfectly evocative of the movie scene, rocketing my brain back to the summer of '89 at some chilly air-conditioned theater oasis in the midst of the sweltering Florida summer. Love it!

An iconic moment of the film! Burton's model Batwing was so cool and Manix brings it to life before the dive!

Who doesn't love Manix's style? And although a night time scene here, his use of color is brilliant as usual. A very memorable, evocative image indeed.

Such a specific commission request, and of course, Manix did it well. Is the moon in glow in the dark paint, by any chance? I know he experimented with that for a bit, and this piece would be perfect for that. Congrats either way!
