DescriptionHaving just re-read this series I was happy to meet Jonathan at the 2025 Heroes convention this past weekend. And to be honest, I was so scatterbrained (if you saw me you saw the manic) over the weekend I would have missed meeting him if it weren't for Newell (Stingray) ((thank you!)).--- It’s been a long time since I’ve come across a comic with this much visual depth. The watercolor artwork practically bleeds atmosphere—each page feels alive, pulling your eye in multiple directions as you take in the composition. I was especially drawn to this piece after my trip to Venice in the summer of 2024, where I got a firsthand look at the rich tradition of Italian papier-mâché masks. The influence is unmistakable here. What makes it even more compelling is the hidden detail: a ship tossed on stormy seas, cleverly tucked into the background. It’s a perfect counterbalance to the ornate, almost regal masks floating across the pages—ethereal, mysterious, yet unmistakably present. Bonus detail: the masks themselves were created on separate sheets and later layered onto the characters’ faces. It’s a creative touch that adds both texture and dimensionality to an already striking piece. Can't wait to get this framed and hanging somewhere on my walls. When you have an opportunity please give Jonathan a follow and check out his website. https://www.jonathanmarksart.com https://www.instagram.com/jonathanmarksart/ Social/Sharing |

Very striking imagery, congrats on the addition. Heroes looked fun (online anyway)!

With OAX in Feb next year it's a quicker turnaround to save for Heroes but definately going to try

You're welcome! Fortunately Jonathan has many other sick pages from that series available.
