DescriptionThe new Superman film had its premiere last night, so this seems like a good time to post this cool production art from The Man of Steel’s creators, 85 years ago.This an original syndicate proof sheet for the strip. These proofs were typically one of a kind, printed on higher quality paper, and the colors are extremely vivid — which you can see even though I photographed this example under glass. This proof came from co-creator Jerry Siegel’s personal collection, and I was fortunate enough to snag one with a giant robot. (Plus, it is signed!) Great Cesar's Ghost! Sci-fi and Superman of its day stuck out with brighter colors, super heroics, and never ending optimism!

How can anyone NOT love that clunky robot?!? Putting him together against the original Iron Man would've been a battle for the ages!
