Great browns and sepia tones to bring about the novel cover look of the times. The performances are all captured at the height of drama acting.

Yes, it captures well the desperation of the dance contestants who strive to win the prize to survive in the midst of the "Great Depression"... the scene would only be missing the morbid audience, for contrast!
