Description

Few people know before it was a movie franchise, the Men in Black was an independent comic book from 1991. This page from the very 1st issue of the franchise belongs in a museum but somehow landed in my hands. It features the 2nd in story appearance of agent J played by Will Smith in the movies. The first page was an out of story pin up. So it doesn't count heh heh. The young agent J, before joining the MIB, is going undercover for a drug bust spotting far away his future partner, agent K, played by Tommy Lee Jones in the movies, spying on him on the first panel. You then see K driving at full throttle to J's rescue in the last panel with the epic encounter on the next page. Penciled and inked by a young Sandy Carruthers determined to make a mark in the industry.

Nice piece of history as MIB is still a very beloved 90's property that gave us movies, cartoon, toys, and a soundtract that got us to Get Jiggy With It!
