Description

Always a hoot to see other artists interpretations of Groo and his merry band of misfit supporting characters.
The 1995 Trading Card set gave us some of the best of these interpretations including this great one by Kevin Nowlan.
Nice surprise on this is it is larger than I thought it was. Definitely an oversize piece for a Trading Card Original and definitely larger than the illustrations Sergio did for the set.

I had my eye on this but in the end passed on it as I am not familiar with the characters (plus I am a bit strapped at the moment). It is a beautiful drawing but nothing less than you would expect from Kevin Nowlan. Thank you for sharing; it saves me having to go into “Past sale prices” if I want to see it again.

Very underrated part of Nowlan's artistry is how he redesigned characters into his style. This is a fine example of how he adapted the Sergio style to a more illustrative work of lines and contrasts.
