Description

I approached MC Wyman to create an album cover, based on one of my favourite Bill Everett, Dr. Strange pages. I asked MC to turn the setting, and the universe, on its head, making superhero garb commonplace, and civilian dress considered weird and outlandish.

What I hadn't taken into consideration at the time of request was the possibility that the removal of Stan Lee's dialogue from the art could lead the viewer to think that the costumed-types were looking at the door, instead of the civilian, while in the book, comments from the characters make it clear that the Doctor is, of course, the odd one out.

Anyway, a beautiful work by MC.

Roy Lichtenstein must have kicked himself for not thinking of doing this interpretation to show the different genres at play during the 60's. Wyman makes the extraordinary feel a part of the everyday.
