DescriptionJesse is a master at page design & layout. Normally it’s his panel pages that offer the most in the terms of visual appeal & storytelling but here in the charming little 5 page Kaya adventure, this opening splash pages offers so much with the multiple images of Kaya as she navigates this meticulously laid out maze.It’s clear that Kaya is rushing and being chased by…something, hints of something large, but definitely something she has no interest in sticking around and waiting for…the looming threat gets closer and Kaya kicks it up a notch and decides to start climbing the walls and hopping across the top! When this story came out, I knew I really need to go after the first two pages of the story as they pair so wonderfully together and deserved to remain together. the setting of the maze makes for an intriguing start to the backup story!

Well thought out for sure, and even though it's not an actual physical location, it is still so impactful to see what happens to that well laid out maze on the next page...

There's nothing new I can offer up that I didn't already tell you in my YouTube comment when you unveiled these beauties, but suffice it to say that they are a great looking pair of pages. Great design, a lovely style, and reminds me of Hit Girl. I love the movement on this page, especially how Lonergan produced the effect on the top half of the page without the need to break it up into panels. Just a single, large panel with multiple character images to lead the reader/viewer's eye, before finally closing the camera in for tighter shots in smaller, individual panels. And what a splash page this leads into! My, oh my.....

Very much agree with all of that, just a wonderfully intriguing and engrossing opening page with a quickening sense of urgency as our eyes make their way down the page! We're up close in the action, in the moment, and then...turn the page...
