Death: Full Page Recreation of Published Panel

Books of Magic vol. 2, no. 4, pg. 3

There are only a handful of artists who have illustrated Death of the Endless in officially, sanctioned, canonical, published appearances. Most of them were in comics written by her creator, Neil Gaiman �via the Sandman series and some subsequent mini-series, including two that were Death solo titles.

When John Ney Rieber was selected to reintroduce Tim Hunter in an ongoing Books of Magic series, he was allowed to include many characters from the Sandman Universe, and in the 4th issue (of 75) artist Peter Gross got his shot at interpreting Death, who would make several appearances throughout the run.

This illustration is a full page (11�17 in.) version of one of the panels from Death's reintroduction in Books of Magic issue 4, page 3. I've included images of the original published page on the scroll. I've always enjoyed Peter's art and was very lucky to get him to consent to this commission. I could not be more pleased.

The paint-splatter illumination around the ankh is an improvement over the original in my opinion.

Who wouldn't want to endlessly wax poetic with Death about making good tea!? Awesome recreation of that standout panel shot of her from Books Of Magic by the original artist, congrats!
