Description

My first Heritage Auctions win:

"Carmine Infantino - The Penguin Illustration Original Art (c. 1990s) The Flightless Fiend of Gotham stands grim and poised in fur collar and top hat, cigarette holder clenched tight, umbrella raised high, evoking the Danny DeVito version from Batman Returns. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.25" x 10.5". In Excellent condition."

I had to get this as it's so perfectly Batman Returns. I imagine this could have been some ideation for the film or done shortly thereafter. All those lines on the coat are hand-drawn. The piece has some great eraser marks and pencils under the ink, which is great to see. This piece is drawn on the back of a DC board, undated.

As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought it definately evoked the character from the Batman Returns movie, really cool Penguin piece by Infantino. congrats on the piece and your 1st HA win!
