DescriptionFantastic Four Unlimited was a quarterly series that ran for 12 issues between 1993 and 1995. Marvel was putting out so much content at that time that it seems like every character had to have their own series and established characters, such as the FF, had to have at least two series going at once. This series truly features some of the craziest dialogue and artwork. Herb Trimpe was frustrated by lack of work around that time and he unsuccessfully attempted to revitalize his career by adopting a Rob Liefeld inspired style. I'm not sure what was going on with Roy Thomas, but the dialogue was wild. You should check out this issue if you get a chance. I've got to credit Herb's son, Alex Trimpe, who did layouts for this issue. This has some of the wildest layouts seen in a Marvel comic and I really love the frenetic action on this page. Interesting combination of styles, almost forgot about this quarterly released book from that era. The dialogue is pretty fun too. Really like that close up panel of Ben/Thing in panel 2!

I've spoken about Trimpe's work on this series a few times on my show, so I'm gonna refrain from saying anything else here. But suffice it to say that I'm glad you're well aware of how....interesting the art is here, Ted!

Ha yeah - I have several Trimpe pages from this series and it's definitely a unique take. Something about this particular page really appeals to me though.
