DescriptionRecent CAF Saturday show pickup, and man was it great to see Hilary Barta on the channel! Anyone who is already a fan of Hilary's knows that he is a versatile artist with an absolutely gorgeous ink style. I am a huge fan of his work on The Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror comics and was excited to see a Simpsons piece in the preview, not to mention those Plastic Man pages! Went for this as fast as I could, and I narrowily beat out Marcus “Are You Afraid of The Marc?” Wai. He is a big fan as well, and got the other Simpsons noir piece, so this one belongs in his collection just as much.Onto the piece itself, you know I looooove inks and that is no exception here. Great composition, and Hilary brings an original concept that could be directly used for TOH. He nails the lighting with wonderful use of negative space. There is also some nice detail in Professor Frink's creation right down to the loose wires and terminals. The components all come together wonderfully here as Bart and Profressor Frink both know it's time to run! Sincere thanks goes out to Hilary Barta and Bill Cyclox for a fun one! Social/Sharing |

Sweet Simpsons piece with amazing inking (as you also pointed out)!! Professor Frink and his monster both look great and the lighting effect (sky light windows up top?) is pretty cool. Beating Marcus to the punch on this means you know who to offer it up to first if you ever decide to move on from it, but why would you!?

It's the clean inks! They impress even the veteran artists!

Very amusing indeed. It is so authentic I can hear their voices in my head.

This is a nice piece Tyler. I missed the show and would have loved to see if I could have purchased one of those Plastic Man pages.

Absolutely killer illustration by Simpsons' comic book artist Hilary Barta! Love this laboratory scene where Professor Frink has created a monster version of Bart made of metal and wires. Bart looks at this monstrosity in terror as it advances on him. Love the noir-style lighting Hilary used here to make the scene more nightmarish! Just a great illustration by a great artist!
