Description

From the Hickman Krakoa era comes this page from X-Men #18 - INSIDE THE VAULT

My favorite set of issues from Hickman’s run was the CHILDREN OF THE VAULT storyline X-MEN #18 and #19. This was a mini storyline that has had lots of effects over the following years in X-Men storytelling. Synch, Darwin and Wolverine (Laura) go into the time displaced vault and have centuries of strife, trying to survive the experience and come back with intel.

The Children of the Vault featured here are Serafina (top left; technopath), Perro (center; super strength/durability and control over gravity), Aguja (bottom left; force field/energy projection), Sangre (bottom center; made of liquid and can form bubbles over victim’s heads to suffocate) and Fuego (right; magma powers). This page adds more to the series of pages that I have already posted from this fantastic issue, now a connecting page to my #10. I will continue to see what other pages I can find and add to this book.

This page shows the X-Men coming down an elevator to engage with the COTV. There is a great phrase that I really identify with (seen in the upper right of published page), especially with this hobby: “We remember what matters most. This is, after all, what makes nostalgia so powerful.” And this issue along with issue #19 is why I collect and especially why I still enjoy reading. Crazy how it’s already got feelings of nostalgia and is only 4 or so years old.

Great page from Hickmans run/era! And I know what you mean about being nostalgic for things I read even 4 or 5 years ago, the pandemic made it feel like it was twice as long as that maybe 🤔

Cool half splash from a decent storyline.

Dope page! I'm not the the biggest fan of the Hickman run, but I did particularly love the story between X-23 and Synch. Great pickup!
