Description

Gary Gianni "Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea" studio edition cover. Into the Silent Sea has always been a favorite storyline for me. It’s has the turn of the century take of the ghost ship trope which meshes perfectly with Mignola’s prime period of writing. I love Mignola style but Gianni’s illustration of Hellboy brings early 19th century esthetics to a modern day hero. This painting was commissioned by Flesk for the premium format behind the scenes take on the story and it feels perfect… Size 30 X 40

What an amazing pick up. The painting just flows with vintage style and yet still has an epic comic feel to it. Stunning !

Very nice mixture of references from various paintings for a historical feel.  It is especially felt in the gallery of people that all cower and suffer in their own way like something out of the renaissance.

It's like a classic Hellboy from the turn of the century...17th to 18th. I'd totally steal this off the mantlepiece of a some retired seafarer living in northern Scotland in a haunted castle where he longs to return to the sea...and find that big red guy he saw once.

Amazing.

A good lawyer could argue that your feet are facing toward the other wall. You will get a crick in your neck this way. Gianni is great.
