DescriptionLet this be a lesson to all of us, dreams can come true. The first time I read Civil War I was in love. The story, the art of McNiven inked by Vines - it was such a great Marvel wide event. When I read this book, this was when I was just getting started collecting comic art, and at that time I was only doing small commissions - published work was too daunting and felt out of reach. Over the years my collecting continues to refine, and I have gone for more and more published art - and recently more art that has a special connection with me. In Civil War there was a page that always stood out to me, and made a huge impact on me. It was Spider-Man moving as only he can, through a host of people, to get to Reed Richards. Mr. Fantastic had both arms stretched out to try and stop him, and Spidey just comes on through. Reed exclaims “Amazing” at what Spidey can do, and as Spidey lands his kick he corrects him with “Spectacular.” Such great fan service, and McNiven is at the top of his game on these books - so the page just sings. I looked for this page for years, no one had any idea where it was, who had, etc. Then, like magic after Chris picks up the Cap punching Punisher for killing “bad guys” at auction - the page I have always wanted, with all its’ Spidey literally kicking Mr. Fantastic’s ass - came up for auction as well. This was a page that I had to get - a grail page. Well, 4 weeks later, it is in my hand. And it is both, amazing and spectacular. Social/Sharing |

That story was so much fun for 12 year old me! And this page always was a highlight on my re-reads. "Spectacular." - "Amazing". Congratulations on a gorgeous and memorable moment!

Major congrats on a KICK A%$ page! McNiven showing us he's a true talent. Is it just me, or does Mr Fantastic have a mustache in that third panel?!

One of the most important events of the modern era that had ramifications for comic and movie storylines! The focus on Spidey as someone who saw both sides was great for the majority of the audience that didn't pick either Steve nor Tony.

Tremendous addition to a growing collection. McNiven uses what has gone before to capture Spideys movement but gives it his own stamp. Reed being somehow flummoxed by his long time acquaintance adds to the mystique and menace of Spider-Man.

The ability to dazzle even Reed Richards, who has seen things most people couldn't imagine... spectacular.

Civil War absolutely falls into modern classic territory for Marvel, and this is such an awesome Spidey/Reed focused page with brilliant movement and action shots! Must be very fullfilling to finally have it in hand after such a long search and a glorious victory at auction! Many congrats!

Congrats on adding this to your collection. I still think the Civil War miniseries is Mcniven's best work he's done.

Highly unbelievable but fun. I mean, Spidey was captured numerous times by short limbed Doc Ock and Reeds body could stretch around Spidey easily. Hes held back The Thing for Gods sake. Spidey? No contest. One result. Still, it makes for a dramatic point. Loved the series. Love the page.

Peter holds back his true powers all the time - even Doc Ock realized that when he became the Superior Spider-Man. Who knows what he can really do or how Reeds hubris sunk him? ;)

Epic! The art and story here are both superb and those words still don't do it justice! Congrats on a fantastic piece of Marvel history!
