Description

Here a tuxedoed underworld boss pours himself a drink while Argent the wolf enters the scene. No words on the original art, but I included a picture of the published page, with words.

Another lucky acquisition that pleased several of my OCA wants. I wanted art by Phil Hester? Check. I wanted something featuring Grendel? Check. I wanted my first ever complete story? Check.

This is page 1 of an 8-page story that appeared in GRENDEL: RED, WHITE & BLACK issue #2 back in 2002. Each of the four issues included five 8page stories, all written by Grendel creator Mat Wagner. Red White & Black was the third 4book series.

The story is a simple story of double-crossing betrayal, but told with flair and a twist that Grendel deserves. The story features great pictures of Argent the wolf, Grendel, Stacey, and Hunter Rose.

I like this version more as the black ink connects from panel to panel to the main figures.  No breaks like in the final image with digitally added screentone.

I had not noticed that difference until you pointed it out. Now that I see it, I agree.
