Description

A poster concept hand-drawn by Dan Goozee for George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope. During her rescue from the Death Star, Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) clung to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as they swung over a deep chasm in the massive space station while making their escape.

Goozee created this preliminary concept for one of the painted posters presented by an ad agency to 20th Century Fox prior to the film's release. While the final painted image was never released as a theatrical poster, it did appear in some trade advertisements. Celebrated artist Goozee famously created artwork for Battlestar Galactica, the James Bond films, and Disney Imagineering.

This lot consists of one concept sketch hand-drawn in graphite on paper depicting a side-view of the two heroes swinging over the chasm with Leia firing a blaster. It has been taped to an illustration board for stability. The sketch exhibits staining around the tape pieces and smudging, while the board exhibits edge wear. Dimensions: 31.25" x 21" x 0.25" (79 cm x 53.5 cm x 0.75 cm)
