Description

At Terrificon 2025, I learned of Tony's project "The 4Forty2nd" about the 442nd RCT, the most decorated unit in US military history made up nearly entirely of nisei/二世, or second generation Japanese immigrants.

All I'd learned about this in school was a footnote in the back of a textbook stating that they existed, which the history teacher mentioned followed by staring pointedly at me. I am not Japanese. LOL

He took the time to tell me about how the project came about as well as all the research and painstaking work to get it right for such a critical piece of American history. We chatted about Manzanar, his work with the museums and historical societies that are all contributing to this project, and the importance of the work in general. Really just incredible all around and it's a privilege to be able to see this being made.
