This original production cel from "Father's Day," the 15th episode of Superman: The Animated Series Season 2, features a powerful confrontation between Superman and Kalibak, hand-painted on 12 field acetate. The cel captures a pivotal moment from the episode in which Kalibak, seeking to prove himself worthy of being Darkseid's son, arrives on Earth to defeat Superman in battle. Though Kalibak is a formidable opponent, Superman's strength and determination keep him ahead-until a collapsing building traps his adoptive father, Jonathan Kent. Distracted by the need to save his father, Superman is forced to divide his attention between the fight and the rescue effort, allowing Kalibak to continually reengage. This dramatic cel showcases both characters in dynamic poses and is paired with a background print for presentation. It bears the official Warner Bros. seal and is hand-signed by episode director Dan Riba, a key creative force behind the DC Animated Universe. Purchased at Heritage Auctions.Social/Sharing |
