3-2025...Small yet very cool concept art work for a classic Looney Tunes short!

The UPA Cartoon Modern style greatly influenced 1950s shorts from Warner Brothers, especially cartoons directed by Chuck Jones. Rocket-Bye Baby is a stylized Merrie Melodies short about the mix-up of a pair of babies being delivered to Earth and Mars - imagine such a thing! In this pair of color markers on paper Color Keys, we see the hospital waiting room and a space trail from Mars to Earth. Neither image exactly matches the screen images, so these may be early concept drawings.

The art is in gouache, with one image directly on a sheet of 12 field 5-peghole animation paper, with an approximate image size of 5" x 3.75". The second image was at one time rubber-cemented to the 12 field sheet; the paper size is 4.75" x 3.5".

A great classic that we never got tired of seeing when it ran in syndication. The unconditional love that the parents showed for their babies made kids realize how much their own parents loved them.
