Description

Discovering this magnificent sketch by Giovanni Freghieri was quite the serendipity. Given the Maestro's focus on Italian comics, it was rather surprising to see that he had already put his unique spin on Morpheus, and it makes the piece all the more special.

This sketch has quickly become one of my favourite renditions of Morpheus. There's a kind of enigmatic intensity and elegance that truly captures the character's essence. It demonstrates a beautiful synergy between the artist's very distinctive style and the world of the Sandman. It was pure good fortune and a bit of travel that led me to this wonderful piece� it feels like it was waiting for me!

Yes, there's definitely a sense of gravity to the image that I believe I've also seen in other works by this artist. Thanks! =)

Are you sure he just didn't rework Dylan Dog? I like the grainy pencil to make it seem like he's a sand statue that can be blown away by the wind.
